Im getting ready to install the Vapor Trail Tech and for programing reasons wanting to know the normal operating temp of the motor, as well as the safe limits of the temp. I know these pretty much vary motor to motor. It has 2 temp sensor gauges that will light up as a safety function if the motor gets too hot. Thanks for any help

Mine ranges from 200 to 240 depending who is riding it and if they know how to shift or not. When I ride it mine runs about 210 all the time. when people ride it a gear low and rev it higher it goes 230-240. all depends. I would not let it get over 260-280. then it is really hot. I would say that is max before it starts to blow gaskets and such. steve

No prob. I am sure there are others with some temp ideas. I just have an xrs only temp guage dipstick. It works good to tell what the oil temp is but not really the motor temp. It is amazing how long it takes to warm these machines up to 200 degrees. Steve

I have heard of using an automotive style gauge and a infrared gun to measure the temps of the motor at different spots. Steve

the trail tech temperatures are very inaccurate plus i dont like the idea of putting it under the spark plug and head temp is basicaly useless this is just my opinion. yes i have one to.

Thanks for the info. I got a XR's only dipstick on the way, seems like a nice thing to have. What do you consider "warmed up" on these motors....like 150 or so?
