My friend races on an 07 yam 450. Hes really tsruggling to ride with the thumb throttle on it at the moment though. The races are 30 mins long on mx tracks and every race he is cutting his thumb over where the throttle is so hard to push. What are you lot doing to help this? He doesn't want to switch to a twist grip.

tokyo mods throttle spring does wonders. or ive been told to twist the stock one to 12 full turns.

I didn't like the stock thumb throttle so I went with a Terry cable. Love it! Easier to push & smooth. Prior to that though, I did play with the spring on the stock one, it helped too.

I cut my stock spring nearly in half, it helped, just make sure its returning, at first it wasn't pulling back hard enough to close the slide, and was staying wide open

Check Ebay, I think his name his hondajohn, he sells em for like 25 bucks, they're pretty good. Switching to a Honda throttle body, aka 400EX, might help too

The new thumb throttle on the YFZR is even better than the Honda one, and it bolts right up to the YFZ.

Also have him try rotating the housing a little more forward.
