ok here is my delima. i have a 300ex with a 400ex carb, and wb header with hmf slip on and a rev box. i need a new chain and sprockets. i do alot of hill climbing and trail ridin and very little track. im not sure of what gearing to go with. i was thinking 14-40 to keep me close to the 2.92 ratio stock. but i want a little more to keep from hittin the rev limiter since i dont have the valve train work done yet. what do you think?

What size of tires are you running? Does your rev box have increased rpm's or just the power curve? I need to know these things before I give you my opinion.

20 inch razor tires and yes the rev box has an extra 1000 rpms

If you want alil more go with the 38 on the back and 14 up front since you got a rev box that will make up for keeping it stock gearing with 20in

if you want a little more yet then go to a 36 on the rear i've never seen one for a 300ex but the one for a 400ex fits perfectly on mine. you may have to pop a couple links out of the chain though!

14 36 is mx gearing and would absolutley suck in hillclimbs unless you had TONS of torque

works fine for me.. you have to remember that your going from 22" tires to 20" going to a 14 front will pretty much even it out going to a 36 rear gives you a little more top speed but the 300ex's are geared so low i can still climb 60 foot sand hills in 3rd no prob!!!
