i have tried them in the past. i have used the stage 2 and stage 3. while i didnt notice a big power difference i did like the fact that it added to the rev limiter. for the money its not a bad upgrade

I bought that same setup last spring. I removed the CDI after 2 months and put the stocker back on.

The coil, however, is a very nice piece--works great and is still in place. If you want more power, buy the Sparks key. It's much cheaper than the AMR CDI and it performs a lot better. The Sparks Key doesn't cause any starting/shutting off issues either.

Yea but i was told the timing key was only for a stock piston, i have a weisco 426 piston in my bike and i was told that would cauze overheating issues?

it makes it run a bit hotter but you should be fine as long as your not above 11:1 compression

so i can run 11:1 and the key?

and what all do i need to buy besides the key to put it in?

i got the clutch cover off and i got a new gasket for it already cause i painted it...im thinking of adding the key.

the key goes on the left side of the engine not the clutch side, you will need a side case gasket and just to be safe so you dont have to track one down go ahead and buy a starter gasket

the flywheel puller comes with the sparks key

Look at my sig, I installed a key just over a week ago. The engine responded VERY well to the added timing.

I am running Ethanol and a fan which help keep the engine cool.

Edit: My compression ratio is about 11.3:1. If you're going to run the key in a 11:1 engine, run atleast 100 octane fuel just to be safe.

k well the rev box is outta the picture now i can deal without it but i want some power, the thing is im running pump gas so with the 426 is it ok to still run the key? I want to buy it fairly soon because the bike is in the shop for new motor work right now i just dont want overheating problems...

you can do the fan mods, mine is stock just pipe, filter, jetting, and timing key and I am thinking of doing the fan mod just because I ride trails alot and want to make sure it stays cool

sparks web site say to use the key only on stock pistons.

Quote from sparks website:
The 400EX in stock form is very low compression and responds extremely well to advancing the timing 6 degrees. The Sparks Racing Ignition Advance Key advances the timing 6 degrees. There are no side affects from the installation of this key. It must only be used in conjuction with a stock piston. This key works great with any other modification, Hi-rev CDI's, performance camshafts, carburetor kits, etc. Just not high compression or big bore pistons. We also include a flywheel puller for your convenience.

i consider the 426 a big bore application!!!
i would contact sparks before you install the key.
