I've got a 2008 kfx 450r, i pulled in out to take the first rip of the year, and the coolant resivoir tank ask a very thick greasy white film at the top. Is this a head gasket, or something even more serious. It only has about 50 hours or so.

ugh i better go check mine lol. Seems like a few of us are having a problem with our coolant. . .

probably a head gasket, and sounds like its sending oil to the coolant. is it smoking out the exhaust. i would replace the head gasket then hope none of the bearings were affected.

she aint smoking out the exhaust or anything she runs awesome, thats why its so messed up, it acts fine, but i know it is'nt.

its not smoking because the head gasket is not blown around the cylinder but through a water passage and somewhere else

i would think thats probably good news. it might have done less damage that way.

My cousin bought a brand new kfx 400 back in 04 or 05, and he was having the same problem. Check and see if you need to run better coolant and you need to check out the coolant resavoir. Check with your local dealership and see, there might be a recall.
