I called the local shop to find out how much they would charge for a piston, rings, and bore and hone for a 416
he said if I brought him my cylinder it would be 285 bucks for the bore and hone and a piston and rings for a 416cc bore. Is that a good price?

That doesn't seem like a good price to me.

Mine cost $185. $75 for machine work and $110 for the 11:1 wiseco piston.

was the change to the 416 with an 11 to 1 a noticeable difference from stock?
also if you have a sparks key and 11 to 1 compression piston can you still run pump gas?

Mine is actually a 426 but I came from a 440 and will never go back. You might be ok with pump gas but if it starts to ping, mix a little. I don't have that key but I usually run a 70/30 mix of pump/110.

Right from a local bulk plant in the middle of town. Its on a pump so you just swipe and fill.
As far as the 416 making a difference, there's a huge difference between 400 and 426 so I'd say the 416 will be a very noticeable difference if you have complimentary parts i.e. cam, exhaust, etc.
