Are the rubber boots on the a-arm ball joints replaceable? Would the Honda Shop sell them if they are. I've torn one of mine and its leaking grease. I would like to get it fixed before the riding season gets in full swing. Any idea where i could get one.

thanks,
Dave

I asked at the dealership in Watertown (NY) and they said nope, can't buy them or replace them.
I have heard that auto supply stores have something that can be used, but my local NAPA says nope.
And I have a mint set of 400EX arms that look like they were never used, but 2 of the rubbers are split. If anyone knows of a fix, I would like to know too.

man thats pretty sad of honda. It would be stupid to replace the complete A-arm just for a 10 dollar rubber boot. There gotta be a fix for this. I just don't see peeps replacing the whole a-arm for such a simple part. Sad part is.. the clymer manual don't even mention replacement of this part.

That was one of the many reasons I got a clymer. Thought it may mention a fix. GREAT manual by the way. BUt no such luck.

i'm not 100% sure of the part #, but i believe that i replaced mine with honda accord tie rod end boots. I'll look back at my records to find the energy suspension part #'s. good luck.

I will check in on that. Honda Accord tie rod end boots. I will bring mine in.. and have the auto parts store pull one.. and see if they are a good match. If it works I will let everyone know what i did and part numbers if possible. I'm headed up to Wellsville, OH on Saturday. I would like to get this repaired before heading out.

thx,
Dave

doesn't really help, unless someone can confirm the 250X and 400EX have the same size ball joints.

This post's original author's signature indicates that he has a 300ex, so they would be the same. So maybe that WILL help him.

this thread says 250X but if they are the same as the 300EX and the 300EX are the same as the 400EX then we are good. but i believe the 300Ex are different this is why people upgrade the a-arms and spindles fron a 300EX to a 400Ex.
