Got my new 310 cylinder in today with trx9 porting along with a 38mm tmx and a few other things. From what ive been reading on here ESR's porting is not too good. I am no porting expert but from what i can tell it looks like it could be alot better. A guy i work with builds and designs snowmobile drag motors, I had him port a old blaster cylinder i had a few years back for $50 and it came out really nice. I am leaning towards having him redo it, I just wanted a few other opinions before i do.

If you're not satisfied with it, I'd call and speak to Eddie. If it was mine I would send it back. I have to say, mine didn't look like that when I got it.

You guys wont believe this, I got a phone call a little while ago and it was eddie sanders himself. He saw this post and wanted to call me and make sure i was happy with the cylinder. Ive never talked to eddie before but he sounded like a really nice knowledgable guy. He took the time to explain to me that with this new cylinder design, its the layout of the ports and the way its designed that makes a big power difference. He said a complete porting job would only make about a half more horsepower. He said he was getting alot of complaints on the porting and I told him that myself and alot of other people did not realize that the 7,9, and 11 port jobs are not complete port jobs, there more of a "econo" port job and he said hes going to talk to tom or whatever and make sure when people order these cylinders they understand its not a complete port job. He did mention too that the reason they can sell them at this price is because they dont spend alot of time hand porting because hes tested alot of these and he never saw much difference between they way they come and a complete port job. He really stands behind his products and assured me I will be happy with the performance of it.

^^^^^^Thats exactly why I keep on buying from him. He has given me great customer service, and I don't mind spending money with someone like that. Like I said, my cylinder looks great!! I got it all bolted up and I'm VERY impressed with the power its making.

I'm a big guy, and I was riding in the sand yesterday, with just regular (worn out) Dunlop tires, and its pulling the front end up in 3rd gear. It really makes a lot of torque. I say "thanks" to ESR, because he does stand behind his name.

Wow!! I think a stock cylinder looks better than that. I just bought a new Puma cylinder and was worried what it was going to look like unported. If it had looked like that I would of sent it back. Never seen one that rough. Even the finish work around the windows down in the cylinder dont look real good. My 2 cents.

Hey I had numerous post about this. My cylinder actually looked worse than yours. He also called me and I told him I wasnt happy. He re-ported himself but I did pay another 150$ to do it. Oh well, Mine runs great and I reccomend sending it back to be re worked.

WAY to go Eddie Sanders!!!! That's cool though, he wants to make It right! The bad word treavels fast, and he does not need that. We should all be happy that ESR Is still offering 250R parts.

^^^^^^thats what I say. Anyone who is trying to keep the ole "R" alive needs to know we appreciate it. I don't mean to sound like a broken record, but I'm just glad he is doing some R&D on the greatest quad ever built.
