www.maxpower-engines.com thats a pretty good site...do you plan on doing the labor yourself if so you can get alot more done.what kinda mods does the 450 have now is it stock or does it have anything done on it,need to know that first to give a good detailed answer with price ranges etc. answer.

Are you doing the work yourself? what parts do you have pipe, cam, head work carb? you could do a big bore stroker for that much if you want it to run awesome may need more money.

okay cool.here is what i would do with that kinda money. hotrods +3mm stroker crank(makes it a 471) thats about $320-$360 with bearings depends what kinda deal ya get, cylinder works 479 kit with a 12:5:1 compresion piston and thats about $450 and by now your at 500cc and youve spent about $800ish.then i would get a dasa, sparks or rossier FULL exhaust and used if you could to save money if you buy new it'll be $500ish and dasa is on the top of my list but all 3 are good.by now your around $1,300 and you still need your head to be ported and polished for you to get all the power outa the 500cc's and you DEFINATLY need to get it done at 500cc's and i would get it done by someone who uses a flow bench,i would recomend DRG nd that'll cost ya about $500ish again.and to get everythng outa it you should get a fcr carb bored to 43.5mm and that'll set you back another $500-$700ish.after that it should run REALLL good but to get that setup runing ABSOLUTLY PERFECT id get a diferent cam like a stage 3 hotcam or one of the webcams, and then yet get oversized valves would be very good for it too.so that gives you a decent overview at what your looking at here.also remember you can sell the parts you replace, like if youd get a fcr carb you could prolly sell your stock one for $100 mayb more, and then your cam for mayb around $75 or so,and your crank for mayb $50ish mayb more if you can get rid of it,your stock cylinder jug and piston for around $150ish,and your slip-on for idk $60 or so.so that should give you something to think about

do you have to use the a big bore piston or a stroker big bore piston i know u got to use the big bore piston but i guess what am asking has it got to be the specail stroker piston or will the reg. big bore piston work with the stroker +3 hot rod crank?

a regular big bore piston would work fine, actually if you go big bore and stroker then use a 12:1compresion piston since i think the strker crank bumps up the compresion slightly to were youd be runing close to 12:5:1 with a 12:1 piston.now if you wana make even more power you can run race gas and then you could get 15:1 compresion with a DRG piston, and then if you wanted to be extreme you could deck the head(machine it down 0.040)and get 17:1 compression, but anything over 12:5:1 you really wana run race gas which is usually around $10 a gallon around here atleast.if doing the complete package is to much for you you could always leave out the big bore kit and just go with a stroker or vise versa and still make reallll good power with doing the rest of the stuff i mentioned. also if your gona be drag racing youd prolly wana jump to a 15tooth in the front sprocket.oh and another thing you could do is get a programable ignition and get some custom rpm's maps on it.

good advice S.A.J. the only thing i would of added is dynatec cdi and mentioned Sparks racing. Ive had good results from the cylinder works and hot rod cranks.

thanks S.A.J. for the shout out....

right now, I'm building 3 500R's with all the full engine mods.....

I use a balanced HR +3mm crank, the +3mm Cylinder Works cylinder and my 14.25:1 piston kit with all the other engine great stuff to get these engines to mid 60's...

I've seen cases that have cracked on the inside from +600cc's. I know it would be crazy, but these cases were designed for 450cc's. Once you start getting to 600 and above, you really start loosing reliability...fast.
