today i went riding after work, and going up the same hill climb i have done a thousand times before i somehow managed to roll the EX back over me three times and into a rock. i didn't get too smacked up. just wondering what things i should check are after rolling it. the only real damage that i have found so far are the clutch lever, front fenders and mounts, head light trim, and a tie rod. steering stem looks straight, handle bars are good and the frame looks fine. any particular things that i should check or look over again??? any thing prone to damage in a roll over??

nope lol ex's are extremely durable, not alot to go wrong with them, maybe check the axle, possibly the a-arms but other than that nope

i don't know whats prone to bend or break. but just look over it carefully and use your head. if you look at something and it looks bent then it probablly is. go with your gut, 9 time out of 10 it's right. if you look at something to long your going to convice yourself it's fine.

I rolled my quad pretty bad, I only bent my handle bars and steering stem. Strong quads

every time i have rolled it (a whole 2 times) i have bent the steering stem, finally i just bought a roll design, might want to check the stem.

man that sucks! these things are pretty durable though, to make a long story short I rolled mine end over end trying to skip across some water and it landed on my back with me under water but somehow I got out from under it flipped it back over and took off lucky me just a few bruises and some cracked headlight plastic.

i rolled one last year about 10 times. caught a rut at about 75 at a sand drag. i bent a tie rod and the handles bars. thats it.

its hard to kill a 400ex

:D good stuff here... nice stories!
i have yet to flip my ex, but i did manage to flip it up on its rears when crossing a rocky creek..badly. i can vouch for it being a tough quad, considering i just pushed it back down on all 4s, restarted it, and kept on rolling. very strong quad.

btw, my buddy flip his kfx400 up and his rear grab bar was bent to helll...

my dad hit a puddle around a corner and flipped his forward. it had renthal bars that just rotated in the clamps. once we pushed the bars back up it was good to go. just a scratch or two on the fenders. my dad wasn't so lucky :( now he rides a z400 :grr: :blah:

This is funny, I just rolled mine earlier today. That's 2 steering stems that I've bent to hell. My renthal bars just slipped but nothing else bent. I have a fetish for climbing hills and push my limits...

check upper shock mounts. they are a weak spot and they bend and break easy.

I agree that the 400's are a durable machine. I rolled mine last season after hitting a blinding puddle on the tracks. I was doing a good 30mph and rolled the quad into a ditch. Luckly i was okay. I only bent my steering stem and Rethal handlebars. I simply heated the steering stem and pounded it back to its regular shape. Never will forget that day :p

thanks for your help, will take a look at the steering stem again after work. it is hard to see it clearly installed with all that sh*t in the way am i better off pulling it, it looks like just two bolt in the front??

dont worry about pulling it you should be able to tell by just looking at it, Its 5 bolts to get it off plus the front plastics, really not worth it, you can tell with it on
