I bought my 450r with a hot cam already in it but I don't know which one it is.
HC EH
NO:24 is printed on top if that helps. I checked my valve clearance and they were way off what the book said. From the back:
left exhaust - .011
right exhaust - .009
left intake - .002
right intake - .004

Just wondering what the correct clearances are. Don't want to buy the wrong shims.

.006 intake and .011 exhaust. Thats if you have an 06+ 450r. Im not sure about the older ones.

Same for all years.

I noticed my cam chain or whatever isn't aligned, will that make a difference?

Yes that will make a difference. Always check the valve clearances when the engine is at TDC on the compression stroke. Make sure the engine is completely cooled down too.

How do you know when its on the compression stroke? IT looks like the punch marks align when the piston is up on every stroke.

(if the cam is forward, putting any pressure on the valves/springs u are 180 degrees off)

there is a cover on the stator side of the engine that is the inspection cover for the flywheel. it takes a 5 or 6 mm allen head , it is right behind the oil fill cap. Remove the inspection cover on that side, move to the clutch side and take the cover that requires a 10mm allen head out. Now use a 8mm allen head wrench inside the bolt behind the cover that takes a 10mm to slowly roll the engine while watching the inspection cover on the stator side and the cam tower. When u see a F you are close, go just a little further, till the " T " lines up perfectly with the timing mark on the hole on the inspection cover. You should see the timing marks on the cam gear line up with the arrows pointing inward on the cam tower. This is TDC Top Dead Center.

Yeah that lined the chain wheel up but the punch marks that the book tells you to use are not lined up. The cam is pointed back like it is supposed to be.

Thanks for the help, I just want to make sure my stuff is right.
