First post. I've been a hoverer for a long time. Just picked up a 2002 black and yellow 400. Wasn't sure how I could help the communtity here, because I've learned alot from all of you. However I did find this interesting. With all the talk of changing these and those plastics bla bla, I went out to bike bandit and put together a shopping list of what it would take to put 08-09 plastics on an older wheeler. Look at the total and you'll understand why noone has, lol. This price is withOUT the headlight but includes the tank and seat as well.

NOPE!!! I LOVE MY OLD STYLE!!! the new ones suck in my opinion. that is alot of money anyway, cehck on ebay if you are really interested in getting it all. it may be used but will most likely cut the prices way down on some of that stuff. steve

Wow! Even if the plastics were affordable let me tell you that they are such a pain to work on vs 07 and older bodywork. I am the owner of a 08 and sub owner of another 08 and I wouldn't pay 1 cent to "update" an old machine style to that style. Just getting the plastics off to do jetting changes is enough to make me crazy compared to my 07.

Only reason I like the new plastics is how the seat detaches. The design with the seat connected to the back plastics is terrible.

And one guy has done it on here already.. He just bought the plastics and fab'd up brackets.

hi thats interesting, i didnt know if it were possible to remove the seat, without removing the rear fenders. it would be nice to be able to remove just the seat.

do you have any photos/info on doing this modd?

If you were asking me, no I don't have any info. I simply looked at the schematics from Bike Bandit and tallied up the parts that it would take to get it on the machine. I'm sure it would take a little fabrication as well. I've seen people do the 06 and earlier but I hadn't seen a post about the newest plastics.

this guy right here did it... I dont think it cost him but like 2-300 bucks for the plastics and seat. I cant remember his name but there is a thread on how he did it.
