depends on how old you are. i know insurance on them is very expensive. might want to look into that before you get to gun hoe. and if its your first bike look into something a bit smaller like an r6. still more then enough bike for anyone.

Based off your questions I assume you have never had a street bike before, if that's the case, do not get an R1, or anything more than a 600cc.

600cc? I hope you mean on a crotch rocket! if you aren't looking for a crotch rocket....you can go bigger than that! I started out on a kawi vulcan 750. Was perfect to start on!

If debating between cruiser and rocket definitly check the insurance if your young. That will sway your decision. Im 24 and have a owi and for 6 months through progressive for a cbr600f4i it was 3,100!!! Granted im sure it would be half that if you have a clean record I just couldnt belive it.

it all depends who you go through with your insurance.. i have Gieco.

With my bike AND jeep on the same policy my payments are around 200$ a month.

its a 2006 CBR600RR..and i'm almost 22.

But if its your 1st street bike, i would stay away from ANY of the newer bikes, look into an older CBRF2 of along those lines. learn a little bit, then upgrade.
chances are you Will drop it.. better off it being 2k.. over 8k...

Here is me at the new track in NJ :)

im all set with the 883 guys thanks anyways. if i go with a harley and depends on the deal i can find it will be somthing like a 1200-1500. we have a good family friend that really into harleys and he said you would get extremely bored with a 883. plus the bigger the bike the better handleing

"Extremely bored" is harley guy talk for it isn't big enough. harleys are all about image, they have kinda lost the outlaw biker thing with all the middle aged dudes with full leathers and full face shields riding them thinking they are peter fonda. You will have fun on any bike, and if you haven't had a street bike before, you're better off starting with something small and inexpensive. You can always upgrade. I wouldn't want to drop a 800 pound Heritage or fatboy because I was a newbie. Work your way up, you won't regret it.

If you're still trying to decide between a cruiser or rocket, take a look at the Victory lineup. American made cruisers with modern styling. And the used market has some very affordable deals on great low mileage bikes, especially from 2003 and up.

if we're talking street bikes my friends pay 20 bucks a month for insurance on their 600s... i do agree with "still more than enough bike for anyone" the 1000s are deadly when your mashin around corners because they have so much power and could break loose from under you. 600 IMO is perfect for mostly anyone.

At 20 bucks a month they probably only have liability. I'm 38 and pay more than that for my 2002 CBR 954RR.
