i just bought a 300ex. it has a 14 tooth up front and 38 tooth in back. i think stock is maybe 13 up front?? it is still all bottom end and i cant fit a 15 up front. i want to be able to climb anything in 1st gear but have lots of top end. what are my options?

front sprocket is 13 tooth and the rear sprocket is 38 tooth but if u yant more torque ull want to go with a 12 tooth front sprocket

it has plenty of bottom end power. if i want a higher top speed should i buy a smaller rear sprocket?

More teeth= more speed but less torque
Less teeth= more torque but less speed

ok what now? so smaller back sprocket for more top end right? what is a good size for a close to stock 300ex? i already have a 14 tooth up front but i need a higher topspeed. i know i will be sacrificing bottomend torque but thats ok. as long as i can climb in first thats all the bottom end i need. so can i get a 36 tooth back or something?

I'm guessing a 36 on the back would be 6-8mph faster than it is now.

calvin dont listen to the other guys

larger rear sprocket = more low end, you will reach the top speed faster, the bike will accelerate harder, but you will lose top end speed...

Smaller rear sprocket = less low end but gains in mid range and top. The bike wll accelerate slower, but the top speed will increase....

if you want top speed, best bet is to get a bigger front sprocket and smaller rear sprocket......
