Ok here is what I got an 07 drr L/C 50 pretty much stock. I just got this quad and the problem I am having is it will start on first few kicks but just will not rev out and it seems as if there is a limiter or something on it. I have cleaned the carb and filter, checked the reeds and changed the coil and the plug. It has fresh gas in it and I am starting to pull my hair out. I know this quad ran great at one time cause I know where it originaly came from but the person I bought it from did not ride it much and it has pretty much sat the last 6 months. thanks at this point any ideas will help.

Check the cdi box make sure that the metal clip has been taken off this will keep it from reving out .

I would check your CDI box to make sure it doesn't have the jumper between the 2 poles(as Nichols suggested)

What shape is the CDI? Is it rectangular or square?

Is the quad not revving on the ground or is the issue the same with the wheels off the ground as well?

Do you know what the jetting in your carb is(carb type as well)

I imagine the rear wheels spin freely as well?

Have to ask some basic questions to help eliminate some simple issues we have seen.

There is no metal clips on the cdi, it is a square type, I have never had any issues with this type before. It has a 108 main and a 55 pilot. runs the same whether its in the air or on the ground. thanks

rollers flat spotted? rear torque spring wore out? variator faces worn? rear clutch halves not clean and lubed to allow movement?

just some things to check

checked all clutch stuff everything good to go. 3.5g rollers, new belt, cleaned everything. Now I changed the cdi just to check but it was the same. Now one thing I did find out that was bad was the spark plug cap. now it will rev up but still wants to sputter on the top and mid. So I checked plug and it was milky white( pretty dam good actually) so I went up to a 115 main. My kid is getting frustrated cause his kasea ran great that I just sold and now this thing runs like @$%$!!!!

Keep going up in jets until you get that nice chocolate brown color. White is bad, you'll poke a hole through the piston nice and fast with that color :(

Well I guess I should have asked this first...

Do you have an rpm gauge? If so, what is your max rpm and/or the rpm the quad show signs of breaking up?

Thank you

Thanks for all the help, after Brad gets the nerfs welded on I will try a couple of these latest ideas. Good thing the kids all have ball games this week to keep my mind somewhere else.
