Air Compressor ?

If there is anyone that has worked on or knows anything about air compressors could help me out. On my compressor the outlet pressure guage isnt working or reading any pressure therefore I cannot adjust the outgoing pressure. Is the guage broken or is the regulator messed up? Just wonderin because some of the parts are $30-35 a piece so I just dont want to start replacing things without them actually solving the problem. Thanks

can you hook a hose up to it....and then an end that just shoots out air(like to dust yourself off).....and push that air into an air pressure gauge like that tests tires? That reading(although not completely correct)....should tell you if there is air(which would be bad gauge)....or no air(new reg).

plug an airblower tip into the hose.
start blowing air, while adjusting the regulator knob up and down.
if the pressure changes, while turning the knob,...
it's probably just the gauge.
