I found a partial rolling chassis with swingarm and a-arms. The frame as far as I can tell is a lonestar baja 2001 model. A-Arms are lonestar LT +2. Swingarm looks to be a Lonestar -1 standard link.

My question is can I tell just by looking at the frame what swingarm/rear shock setup it is made for? I bolted up the above parts with my extra axis standard link shock and it the swingarm hits the airbox before the shock bottoms.

Do i need a longer shock? no link swingarm? cr500 linkage? or is this chassis made to use a custom air box only?

I will get some pics up shortly. How many variations of the baja chassis did lonestar make? If I end up needing the no link shock would that then require a specific no link swingarm or am I mistaken?

I have had a few Rs in the past but somehow have only gotten to work with the stock link setups. no cr500s or no links

I believe they were no links, but pics will tell all. U positive it's a standard link swingarm

I have a 2005 LSR Baja Series frame. They were offered in a std. link or linkless rear. I have the standard link. If you can post pics ,I'm sure we can tell you.

here are a few pics. its stock 86 linkage. If its not a no link frame my next job is to double check if it could be a 86 dog bone with a 87-9 length shock.

thats a standard link, the no-link mount is ~2" higher and requires some cutting of the rear fender to fit right. It digs into the seal pan some also.

try changing dogbones. you need the 88-89 dogbone which is shorter than the 86-87. if you run the 86 dogone on the 88 it will set too low.

but if you ask me it looks good. get some pics of the whole bike so we can see it setting low in the rear. because like i said. it looks fine to me.

yeah, the 87-89 dog bone is ~1" shorter than the 86. If you use a skid plate, there a 2 different ones, 86, and 87-89. What year shock you have on there also??? There were 3 different length bodies and shafts, 86, 87 and 88/89. I beleive 86 had a long body and shaft(a popular re-do with aftermarket parts to get ~2" more travel), 87 had a shorter shaft and body(thus the need for the shorter dogbone), and 88/89 had a even shorter shaft and body, but changes inside the shock for better suspension.

Def a standard link! And thats a 86 dogbone by the way.
If that is the 88/89 length swinger then thats the wrong link. The link in your pic is too long and will make the quad squat in the rear. This will also thow the front off. If you put the shorter link on that bike. It will be night and day difference! How long is that shock?
