I work at motorsports place and we have a 2005 450r that is in good shape and my boss will sell it to me for $2400.

The problem is when they got it the bike had been sitting for 2 years in some guys barn. The carb was gummed up and has been cleaned really well. But i doubt its perfect yet. All of the parts seem to be in fine working order.

It just doesnt want to run right. It idles but not great. There is black smoke coming out of the pipe. It has a white brothers e series slip on. The main jet in the carb is a 118 and the pilot is a 48 air/fuel screw us 2.5 turns out. I live in kansas.

Could anybody send me in the right direction?

If the air box lid is off slap a 180-185MJ in it. Should get it close enough.

There is no way its rich with a 118 and a slip on. 118 is the stock jet meant to be used with the super restrictive baffle and air box lid on.
Unless there is something clogged up in the carb.

And I recommended the jetting with the air box lid off.

i dont think there is a jetting problem yet i think it needs some attention in the needle and seat then once that is checked out it may need fuel but if it is puffing black smoke dont try and cure the problem with more fuel
