can any one help me i have a fully built 440 motor (the mods are in my signature) and every like 4 -5 times i ride it i have to replace the woodruff key because it shears it off. evreything like the starter, starter clutch, flywheel and gears on that side are all brand new. does anyone kno what this could be and also know if they make hardened ones for that. thanks

are you getting it in flush when you put it in and using a torque wrench to tighten bolts to spec?

for those of you not familiar with woodruff key it is the one that the " Sparks Timing Advance Key " replaces

i had problems with one that had a hotrods crank doing that about a year ago. ended up being the the crank. the keyway tolerances were way off. letting the flywheel beat against the key. had to send it back to hotrods. they sent me a new crank with a letter telling me what happened. also sent me a full gasket set for my troubles

ya thats what i might have to do. im gonna the company and talk to them. thanks for the info. it never started untill i did the new magneto, starter clutch, and gears so idk i dont wanna rip the motor apart. if i gotta do that thats when a built 450r motor or crf motor goes in it.
