Ok so ive been finally getting my project R together and I got the pipe on and the silencer seemed kinda off, but my main issues is the pipes laying against the frame up front and the expansion mount has no were to go without a special bracket. Is this common???

its hard to see but this is where its up against the frame

And heres the mount

Also my roller came with the radiator and it had the hoses on it already, but the lower hose is waaaay to long and the barb is like 1/8" or < from the expansion chamber...whats the deal??

Good looking start you got there, My ESR is the worst fitting pipe I have ever had. There is a guy on ebay, that makes these adjustable pipe hangers for a banshee, they worked great for me, if you want i can find his info.

you cant just bolt the pipe up to the frame. they make rubber mounts that you need to use. i have heard that the esr bolted up great. i may have an extra one layin around. but i believe thats why your pipe is not aligning and hitting the frame.

My esr centermount 5 fits perfect. My hose clamp comes awfully close to the pipe though.

You need to use the factor mounts (or RIS billet mounts), some spacers, and a longer bolt on that motor mount and it will probably line up fine. You may have to tweek on that pipe mount just a bit as well.
Are you fitting flush on the exhaust flange? You should be able to move the pipe off the frame and still have it seal on the exhaust flange.
I always get the pipe loose mounted first and then start tweaking by tighting one, loosening another until its dialed.

It seems like all pipes need a little time and finess.

where is your spacer that came with your esr? do you have the stock pipe bracket?

Im not sure what I should be doing, I was just going at it how it fell. The silencer looks to bolt directly to the frame as its only got the one hole on the upper hanger and lines up that way. I thought the spacer went on the lower silencer mount but that didnt work out either, the pipe seems to sit all right but the expansion chamber mount. Its tight and square on the exhaust flange aswell. This is my first build of an R and really the first time Ive touched one, like this so Im really just kinda going by pictures of other bikes and what not. Unfortunately I bought everything in peices and all that was together was the stock suspension, airbox, radiator, and steering stem. I do appreciate the help though and Ill have to look into those mounts for the banshee.

If you need more pictures of anything that I may have done wrong just let me know.

Any ideas on that lower rad hose? is it switched with the wrong one or something? As you can see its about 6" too long and if I put it on the pump outlet it kinks all up.

I think you have the wrong hose on that lower spot!

THERE IS SUPPOSE TO BE A MOUNT IN BETWEEN THERE. THE PIPE DOES NOT JUST BOLT UP TO THE FRAIME. there is no place on the while pipe for a trx 250r that mounts to the frame solid... i hope this gets the point across.

Thank god you posted this. I've been looking for a new frame because ESR had me convinced mine was bent. I bought a new ESR pipe and it rubbed the left side of the frame. Looked great but it fit like garbage.

Call them and they will tell you they have never had this problem but you can manage to get a full refund.

Thanks for the link.

Im not sure, but I would guess the ESR silencer bolts to the frame at least in the top spot because there is one hole and the mount is longer, its not like other pipes with the short bracket with two holes in it. The only thing I might be wrong about is the lower silencer mount, I think thats where the spacer goes.

Ameire I doubt I can get a refund, I bought the pipe used.

I just mounted my ESR TRX-9 pipe, and I really didn't have any real problems. Don't get me wrong, its a little tight, but I got everything a snugged up.

Although my frame is not stock, I like the way it fit, and easy to unbolt because of the way it turns out where the head pipe mounts.

After seeing some pics of the TRX5 and TRX6 it seems as though everyones exp. chamber mount sits about and inch back from the motor mount. So special bracket and spacer it is. Thanks laeger n ky for the ebay link I think Ill go with that instead of fabbing up my own for times sake.

On a side note where does the alum spacer go??? lower silencer mount or expansion chamber mount???

As for the rad hose Im either gonna switch upper and lower or take a chunk out of the lower and splice it with an inline cooler.

...I have bigger issues now, one of my front shocks is dripping, but its weird cuz it only started after I tightened things down, hope I did not crack anything tightening it.

You should go to a hardware store and buy some misc. thickness spacers. They will come in handy! You will most likely use em down by the motor mount. Sometimes, I've had to use them back at the silencer for other exhausts. It all depends how your fitment is going. Like I said before, some take some time and finess.

Ya seems that way. I need to make some spacers for my nerf bars, they were just bolted on with longer bolts, no spacers. My ESR pipe came with an aluminum spacer but not real sure where it goes just yet...

You will have to use that( or some kind of spacer )on the upper mount for the silencer or it will hit the rear brake caliper when your suspension bottoms out. Hope that helps some.

i called esr an they say that the spacer is for the 87-89 frames for mounting the pipe to the frame. hope this helps
