I just watched the YFZR video from Yamaha and let me say anyone with this quad is lucky, its gorgess!!! :p I'm probable going to pick one up here soon to ride along my Outlaw 525!! Just wondering is the YFZ450R quicker than the 700R???

no not even close. i believe dirtwheels radar the yfzr at 70. my buddys stock raptor 700 does around 78-79 mph

I have a buddy with a dyno and he ran the stock 09 YFZ and it made 48 h.p. and he also ran on 08 raptor 700 with a pipe intake/filter and a programer and it only made 48 h.p. So idk how that runs top speed but by that it seems that the YFZ would prob be faster with some mods.

im going to guess gearing. but im about 99% sure i remember the yfzr topping out at 70 cause i thought to myself well thats kinda slow and i know the raptor is faster than that. cause my buddys raptor can pull away from me on my DS whic does around 75, 76

I don't know about the YFZR, but the YFZ top speed around 75mph, the LTR is only about 70mph, the TRX is aound 74, and the KFX is the slowest at 68. The Raptor may be slightly faster, but I doubt it's a 5mph difference.

the raptor 700 has long legs man. ill tell you it just keeps goin. totally different gearing that the 450's. i just grabbed the old dirtwheels and this is what it says word for word " on the top end the yfzr is probably not the fastest, with a top speed at this area of just under 70mph"

Yeah, I was wondering why they didn't make the Raptor a 6 gear bike. I guess they just made the internal gearing taller.

probably because it has reverse. just my guess. they just dont rev out like the 450's. they have alot of low end grunt and smooth throughout the gears. they are quick but heavy

well my 525 is piped, cam'ed, filtered and i have friends with two 07 700r and their quick but nothing compared to my 525 power, i mainly want the Yfz450R for another chase bike because its a sweet bike :p Yamaha did their work, I know for a fact the Yfz450r would probably spank the 700 on the track!! hoping i can get a good deal on one, i would be proud to own the bike!! :p

Very true that YFZ and YFZR will spank a raptor on the track. You will need some mods and gearing to beat them in a strait line though.

yep if want top speed i got the 525 :p, but id use the 450R for the track

700 may have more top end but when it comes to bottom the yfz eats it up

most dont measure performance by top speed

anyone can raise a couple teeth in front and drop a few in back and run 90mph

no one hits top end getting a hole shot

im more interested in 200-300' exceleration

the yfz is much faster, and if the yfz r is alot faster than the old yfz, the raptor will get killed, but not in a long top speed run(stock)
