400ex carrier bearing question Help?

I have a 2001 Honda 400ex. How can I tell if the carrier bearings need replaced? Any help would be appreciated.

you put ur swingarm on a jack stand and see if theres any play if you wiggle the axle, if tou cant tell then pull tha axle out and feel the bearings, if theres no play then there good but just dont ever overtighten the axle nut itll make the bearings wear faster
