i was wondering what tires are better for mx the 8 inch sidewall or the 9inch.....

alot of tracks are hard packed, but a couple are sand (1 or 2) so could you please list some advantages and disadavantes over the 2 .......
i am looking at the tames for the 18x11x8 but i am considering the new holeshot mxrs 18x11x9....

thanks for you help

I got the 18" holeshots on my stock 9" rims but I was just gonna say don't get em' unless you plan on getting beadlocks because mine come off the bead about every ride/race.

9 inch wheel has less body roll, 8inch gives better cushin over rought stuff.

i have the 18x11x9 MX HS tire and there great!! they spin a lot in loose stuff but hook up great on hardpack. never used a 18x11x8 so i can speak on the difference if there any better than the 9inch ones they will be very awesome then.

i heard the 9 inch brakes the bead really easy when u slide without a beadlock...

its probably just the tire, Not the rim size.

i will be using beadlocks, i will be running hiper dual beadlocks rims so that isn't a issue....

i want a overall, what has the better ride, 8" or 9", i am almost thinking 8" becuase us quads uasually run the track right after the dirt bikes, so you tend to get square edged bumps in the corners...... like i siad most tracks are hard packed, but the berms are usually lose stuff...

i would say go with the 9s i have them and love em....
i believe everyone and their brother are goin with the 9s now...
i also believe that the new mxrs come 10 in wide....similiar to the 9.5 tamers...sounds like a nice set up your gunna have with those hiper rims.

I have tried 9" and 8" holeshots and 8" turf tamers. The turf tamers were by far the best set up. The hole shots produce a kind of sloppy ride being so wide. The 9" tires are very harsh and slide unprdictably. the 8" hole shots slide better but have a lot of rebound. The 8" turf tamers slide very predictably and dont rebound nearly as hard as the holeshots, plus you can change the traction characteristics by removing lugs.

it all depends on what u ride on or if u would rather have a ssofter ride or a little better performance

Here is the lowdown, with 8" wheels you have the option of lowering the tire pressure on soft tracks with less of a chance of busting a rim.

I had 18-11-10 tires and I have to keep them rock hard to keep from crunching the wheels. I switched to 18-11-8 and now I could drop the pressure to gain some traction without fear of bending a rim on a big jump or rocks

I know a 9" wheel has more sidewall than a 10" but it also has less than an 8".

Also 8" wheels (of the same manufaturer and style) are stronger than 9" wheels. They are also lighter.
