heard loud ping and...

i felt hot oil spewing all over my left leg, i looked at the engine and one of the valve cover bolts was loose but it doesn't get tight no matter how much i spin or and it doesn't loosen. do i have to replace the head or can i just retap the hole with a bigger bolt?

pull the head apart and then you can put a helicoil in i believe
I did that with one of my bolts at some point you just need to be able to get close to the threads i think
And make sure you nock of the tab after getting it in so that it won't hurt your bolt
