head pipe????

i just baught a 06 yfz450 and just noticed at night that the head pipe just glows orangish red i dont know if it is normal or not or is it runnin lean?? never owned a 450 befor to know if the header just thin or what i will check the plug tomorrow that should tell but worried right now lol:confused:

This is normal for the yfz. Doesn't mean that it's not lean though. Check the plug.

i noticed that on my bike as well. the red at night comes down 3/4s of the headpipe. so i thought that is was running lean.. it wasnt as bad during winter but now that its warmed up it backfires a flame out of my pipe which makes me think that it is running rich.. any ideas? im at sea level with a full gytr system air box lid on. not sure of main jet size or clip havent torn into carb yet, and ive been playing with the fuel screw going from 1 3/4 turns a quarter turn at a time all the way to 2 1/4 turn. didnt do anything

Check your plug. Should have a nice brown color to it. That's perfect. Alil darker won't hurt. Anything white/gray looking is bad.

i noticed it do that in my garage one time so i called my mechanic lol.

what about the flame backfire when i shut my bike off though? isnt that a sign of it running rich?
