The factory tires on my 06 400ex are in need of replacement. The rear being 20x10x9 My question is how much wider can I safely go?

Anybody put a slightly taller tire on the rear? Did it make much difference in your shifting points or power? I would really like the extra ground clearance. I installed a Ricochet swing arm skid. So I would like the taller and wider tire, if possible.

I have been looking at the 6 ply I razers. I rode on a set my buddy had on his Kawi.

Thanks for the info
Dave

Id say if trail riding where it rocky21, 22in if its not rocky id stay with 20in im going to get 21in maxxus gnnc,s for rear and 23 up front for the trails , you also when going to 22 rear tire change gearing go down one tooth in front sproket or up three in rear.

I run the sizes in my sig nicely. I have not ran the sharks since I rebuilt but I used to gear down to a 14 front from a 15 with the razrs. it was a great combo. steve

Where I ride has some rocky areas, along with deep ruts. I'm thinking of gettting 21's. See how I like it. I still might drop the front sprocket down one tooth. Will I be shifting more or less with a smaller gear up front and larger tire in the rear?
