Ya.. I have to say thanks to HOT-ROD too,, we both worked on it ,, but he has lots of knowledge with these 400's,,, And he will have his done possibly this week,, his will be 416EX,, I will be sure to take pics and post them too... He was WASTED though the night I built the top-end back up,, but it runs like a charm now,,, TOP Speed Has to be over 70 now,,, I am pretty sure of it..

No really to tell ya,,

On my dads GPS that I use to clock my top speed is kinda neat...

Stock--- 66.5MPH

MegamaxII, Dynojet 170 main, K$N----- 68MPH

I had many people tell me that I would not like them for the kinda riding I do,, they said they dont hook up while turning,, spin too much while climbing.... They hook up great,,, they spin a little going up hills, but i would rather spin than have it catch and ride a wheelie all the way up a big hill,,, They do fine too while in a turn pretty hard... BUT DO NOT GET THEM NEAR MUD... They do not like mud at all,,, if in that situation,,, you have to show them the high RPM's,,, but Overall,,, I will probably get another set when these wear out....usually I am in the woods or a field,, I forgot to add that...

Well you have to consider that I went with 11:1 WISECO, HOTCAM stage 1,DMC dual Alien, and Qwicksilver Carb... Its alot faster,,, lots more torque and overall power on the woods also... Its pretty nice,,, feels like a whole new bike... Just wish I could keep the front end down whil drag racing other quads

I havent had any troubles with it so far,, the throttle is real stiff if you use thumb throttle,, but I just cut the spring,, and its great now,,, VERY easy to adjust,,, No troubles with it yet,,, I would suggest one..

hey frog burner how is that setup working for you? I wanna do pretty much the same thing to my machine with the higher compression, edelbrock carb and the stage one cam. Would you reccomend going with the stage one cam or the stage 2? And with the 11-1 compression do you have to run race gas?

I dont know about stage 2,,, I heard it pulls pretty darn hard,,, but I know today, I went on a ride in Illinois,, there was 50 Quads and lots of woods riding ,, we rode on the Mississippi sand banks, and down some gravel roads,, and I know when you climb a pretty steep hill,, you want to be in a higher gear cause it raps so fast you'll tap the rev limiter,, but power whenever and whereever you need it,,, I ran 93 Oct, with a little bit of Octane boost,, and it ran great all day,, Boy those DMC's sure sound good though,,, I think I gave half the people out there headaches by the end of the day... I didnt really realize those pipes echoed so bad in the woods,,, But they shouldnt have been behind me in the woods,,, Man it was great,,, Out of all the quads,, there was only 1 rollover too,,, thats pretty good for 50 of them.... I need to check mine over though pretty good tommorrow,, I hit a tree pretty dang hard today,, but NO BENT A-ARMS though,,, Just need to check for other damage that may have occured...

Not bad looking for a Honda but you only need more HP an cc's, Should have gotten a raptor to begin with then you wouldn't have had to do such major mods on a year old bike. That more than likely gets roosted on by stock raptors. You would have saved some cash to begin with. Come on dude there is no replacement for major displacement.. Wimpy Honda boys....

You can build a 400ex to kill a raptor. Just cuz it has 260 more cc's does not mean that it can do everything. 440 ex's will kill a lightly modified raptor.

How much did you pay for your raptor, i could prolly put the same money in like difference of prices and make my 400ex better, but thats not the point. Because honda is more reliable. Well yamaha makes pianos!!! so whatever floats your boat. I know I will stick with my honda.

5900!!!!:eek: thats almost 8850 Canadian!! lol. I payed 4800 (Canadian) and my is almost stock, 440kit dont cost that much, sheesh.

ok talk about honda reliabitity...

400 ex has to run wide open to hang with a raptor at half throttle, wheres the reliability there?

400 is air cooled versus raptor liquid cooled, slow woods riding honda overheats and loses power, raptor stays cool and unafected by heat buildup.... Who got that point? Raptor.... Modify the outdated 400 (like a 440 kit), guess what, they run even hotter....

I've had my raptor over 2 years (I got the first one to come into my dealership), I haven't had to rebuild, My buddy has a 2002 400 ex and has had to rebuild....

Show me the honda reliability over toe raptor....

One more huge plus, I CAN SMOKE A 400 EX SO BAD!!!!!!!

Here's a point on Honda's reliability.

Have you ever seen or heard of GNCC or GNC? That's pro racing and what do the top racers drive? 250Rs! I've never seen a rapter win the open class. Also 2 of best racers of all time (Barry Hawk and Gary Dentan) drove Hondas.

Just my 250 cents on Hondas reliability.

Seriously though I was very dissapointed with the raptor. Yamaha had good idea and just dropped the ball apparently just to get production out sooner. If you look at your machine from an outsiders view you have to admit that they could have put a little more effort into the handling and the motor (just like the 400ex) is deff not putting out its potential power.

You have to love the extra torque from the extra cc's (I do like the way the raptor accelerates) but theres so much more I am not loving.

And yes I think the Banshee is still gonna kick raptor arse stock or modified so enjoy bullying the smaller 4 strokes in the straights cause thats all you got.

Actually I fear other Raptors more than Banshee's. I havn't lost a drag race yet to any bolt-on Banshee. If it aint ported or carbed it's going down.

If it aint ported or carbed it's going down. Well thats possible but there are more shees out there with a lot more than "bolt ons" than I could count.

That little 350 twin is one quick reving little screamer if its done right and I have seen more than a few that are well over 400cc's and seriously done right.

With over a ten year head start on after market hop up parts and tech your gonna have a hard time being king of the hill on those drags. Not that it cant be done with a 4 stroke but its just not gonna be easy.

I hate to break it to ya buddy, but my 416 is similar to what you're building, and it is no match for my Raptor in a drag race. It'll hang with my Raptor till 3rd gear, then the big dinosaur steadily pulls away after that. If you're gonna be picking on piped Raptors, you'd better start thinking about a carb and some porting.
