...this seems really stupid...but my friend just bought one, used, he ok at riding, i am decent, but bad at taking off...who would win on pavement.
mods in sig. i dont know if his is modded. but i will tommorow..
so say im a worse rider, (i dont think i am but i am not sure :confused: ) would he take me?
..im sorry it sounds really stupid because i am pretty sure i would destroy him, but you guys are experts...have you raced one? outcome?

even with a bad start it shouldn't hold a candle to a well running 400ex.

You will destroy him, the 350 has no over rev or topend, I just got rid of my 07 with lots of mods for an 05 400ex and there is a ton of difference. Hard to beat a 4 valve with a 2 valve, unless he has the Duncan Racing HP4 Head.

you should beat him wire ti wire. the 350 has power that comes on too late and there is a dead spot in the powercurve and will not rev-out. the 350 is usually compared to the 300EX in shootouts.

2 of my buddies have them gay craptors... I can give them a head start and still blow buy them in 3rd.

One of my buddies has one too, its slow and handles terrible. You should be able to kill him with no prob no matter how bad you take off, as long as you dont stall lol
Ok how about this. My friend just sent out his engine to CT Racing to get some work done.
It's bored out to a 386, with a higher compression piston, cam, and porting.
Will my piped 400ex still take it?

its a raptor, but whatever lol. The raptor 350's did have a slightly stronger powerband and lighter weight but not a whole hell of a difference.

no comparison to a 400. the craptors and warriors are hard up to even keep up to a 300ex. Steve

You might have a challenge on your hands, they are easy to make fast with only 2 valves, someone who knows these motors can make them monsters, that high compression piston will make a TON of difference, he is going to have a ton of torque down low and mid, unless he changes his gearing you should still take him on top.

One thing I have learned from racing my Busa is that Wheelies are bad. Wheelie=slow time
Do not just do like a lot of guys I see racing their 4 wheelers at the track and pop the clutch. You want to ride it out hard. Get WOT as fast as possible and the clutch out in about 40 feet.
If it wheelies, shift to bring it down.

ooops. When I said ride it out hard, I meant the clutch. You have to load it hard, but slip it so it does not wheelie on you. If you "pop" it, even after you slip it out, it will wheelie.
Mine pulls the front end a few inches off the ground with me over the bars as I let it all the way out in first gear.

Pop the clutch in 2nd while sitting almost on the gas tank. It shouldnt wheelie and you'll get a good start.

i can't believe all this mambo jambo in this thread, lol. like ruby said ........just go race him. i race people all the time. i talk a little smack.........sometimes get to rub it in. sometimes they do. it's all for fun. and it's over in like 10 seconds. go race him and all his brothers, cousins, aunts and uncles to. to have a story you gotta make one.
either way them raptors suck.... my buddy bought his for 6gs stock, brand new too :eek2:

So who beat who?! I had a 350 before... swap to a trx400 because my buddy kept beating me with this trx... so you should have been victorious...

yeah i know how is goes, i got a buddy rideing a Z400 with a few more mods then my 400 so he beats me by about a quad.
well i bought a semi built 250r this weekend.. so i called him to ask him to race.. he said "what did you do to the 400?" i said "i got a 250r"... he said "i'll race your ex"

When and if you run your friend, make sure you complete your shifts. I ran a kid on YZ a while back and his problem was he tried too hard, kept hitting neutral.

A little update.
My friend came over and we went riding today. We've been wanting to line up to see how they compare to each other.
Well, heres the motor mods.
Me- DMC full exhaust, filter, timing key
Raptor- LRD full exhaust, high compression piston, porting, webcams cam
We were dead even. It was so close it's unbelievable.. Not one of us pulled the other.
So with some work the raptors can be quick.
