Yeah I know it's a little late and I'll probably run out of time but here's where my mx build stands right now. It should start looking more like a quad this week. It's a 1997 Roll Design Lobo mx chassis 250R.

Good lookin R you got there, why did Roll make the upper arms a 2 piece? what was the advantage and why did he stop making them?

Thanks,
Mike

Better caster adjustability on the two piece upper a-arm.

No, that one is my Laeger. The Walsh is right behind it in the third pic from the top. Too much stuff to do!

i gotta ask since there has been alot of roll 250r rebuilds going on....

do u guys really like the roll design bikes better than laegers? i haven't had a roll design bike myself, but i did have a jrd(which is supposed to be a clone) and then a full laegers narrow cr500 250r....the laeger out handled the jrd in every aspect.....

just wondering if it holds true against a real roll design. and where does a walsh fit in among the 2?

Walsh bikes handle a lot better (late models), but the Laeger's steer quicker, and are a little more responsive.

I haven't ridden a roll, but I have heard they handle a lot better on tracks where the ruts and whoops are farther apart, as compared to a CR500 link that handles outstanding on tracks where a quicker reaction time is required from closer ruts and whoops.

No-links in general take flat landings a lot better than a CR linked bike.

Keep in mind, that Laeger's design was one of the originals, and the geometry did not change very much since '93 or so...

Roll was constantly updating and improving his designs up until his last frame...

The same goes with Walsh... Walsh is always updating and redesigning most/all of their products, which is why you see you many of their products on any bikes, and most of the pros had switched to Walsh in the last days of the 250 Pro Class... Walsh continues to innovate; instead of settling for what works, they make it better.

I don't know the exact reason for the two piece upper a-arms but 1997 was the last year for that style. They went to a standard one piece style in 1998 along with a few other changes.

It doesn't say anywhere on the frame that it is a 1997. I know the original owner so that's how I know it's a 1997. He was a GNC Pro rider.

It's a roll design stem that's built for the lobo chassis. I forget the length but he can tell u that.

Looking good Tim can't wait to see it done. What I actually wanna see is all 4 of them bikes finished and lined on side by side in 1 pic!!

There's still a few things I'd like to change or add but for now it's ready to ride.
