So I'm trying to decide which route to go with for my oil changes. Yes, opinions on oil are like...well, you know. :D

I'm curious to know if anyone has run Mobil 1 Racing 4T 10W-40 (formerly Mobil 1 MX4T 10W-40). Everything I've read about it makes it sound perfect for the EX. Proper viscosity, synthetic, made for common engine/trans lubrication systems and wet clutches.

http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Oils/Mobil1_Racing_4T_10W-40.aspx

I don't know how different it could be from their other Mobil 1 10w40 synthetic, probably mostly marketing.

Anyway...anyone use or used the stuff? Opinions? I have no interest in running AMSoil, Royal Purple, Castrol Syntec, etc. The only other synthetic I would consider running is Elf Moto 4 Pro Tech 5w40.

Thanks!

during the summer, i will not run anything but the mx4t.. however, i use 20w50. i have had great luck with it for years.

I have used that oil since my first oil change. I haven't had any issues.

Thanks, looks like I've found my oil then. :D My EX is virtually brand-new, I'd like to keep it running that way for a long time.

My bro has ran royal purple in his for a while now. Although there isn't any noticeable difference in performance. It just costs him three times more per oil change than mine. I've always run honda oil.

I use that oil or the mobil 1 v-twin 20 w 50 oil during the summer and have been using them for over a year and they seem to work great. Just changed the oil on my EX this morning. Before anyone says anything I know the EX is not a v twin but the oil works great. But like you say with oil you can ask 50 people and get 50 dirrerent responses.

I'm pretty sure the only difference with the V-Twin formula is the viscosity @ 20w50. I guess they changed the name from MX4T 10w40 and 20w50 to Racing 4T (10w40) and V-Twin (20w50).

I don't expect I'll be hitting the desert during the summer, only the mountains and Pismo where the temps are relatively mild, then do the desert during fall and spring while it's still bearable. That's why I think I'll stick with the 10w40 instead of 20w50.

Thanks!

The regular Mobil 1 (automotive) 10w40 has moly in it (energy conserving oil) that will make your clutch slip. Do not use it, it is quite different than the Mobil 1 Racing 4T which is not energy conserving, and does not contain moly.

The only automotive Mobil 1 that does not contain moly and is safe to use in a quad is Mobil 1 15w50 (red label/silver cap or gold label/gold cap varieties). I like the 15w50 better than the 4T 10w40 because it has better high temperature viscosity, and can be had for around $6 a quart at Walmart vs. over $11 for the 4T. Highly recommend the 15w50.

Everyone seems to specify that they run this or that in the summer... If you don't mind me asking, what are you guys using in thew winter, then?
