416ex wont start!!!

Hey guys i just tried to start my bike and it makes one click sounds and wont try to turn over whats the deal? i cleaned all around the battery and everything but when i try jump it off the selinod thing it ussaly would spark but it wont. my lights stay on but it wont turn over so whats the deal? thanks

charge the battery check ur grounds since u had the frame painted it may not be getting grounded.

i agree with brian.. scrape away the area that your ground is bolted to.

it turned over this morning but like i said it's making that click sound maybe soleniod bad?

yes, its most likely your relay if it just clicks. i didn't see the part where you said your lights stay on.. my brother and i have both had to replace ours. not cheap :( ..when you're poor.

thanks i got my friend looking at a used one for me i can get it for prob free he knows a guy who has 3 400ex's that are all blown up and is mostly givin parts away so hopefully that will fix it.

Check your connections on the starter. loosen up the nuts tighten back up. Sounds like your solenoid is working. check the voltage going to your starter. Try tapping on the starter with a hammer not the selonoid. Might be locking up. And you can hand turn the motor by the flywheel nut. Remove cap on the side of the motor to get to it. I think its 10mm allen wrench.

k when i hand turn the motor it will turn but it is kinda hard to move to maybe cause of the 11:1 compression? and would this maybe do it the battery wire that goes from the battery to the relay that got a homemade terminal on it so maybe it's not getting all the connection? thanks guys i wanna get this thing going

k now the selinoad will spark when i put the screw driver on it so the selinoad is good maybe a bad connection i check a few places but i will check it over any ideas?

when you say it sparks are you saying when you touch the screwdriver to both of the connections on top? does it turn over when you do that? if so, it definitely is your relay.

hey it does spark but doesn't turn over. My friend came over and we pulled the plug out and poured some mixing oil down the head then hand turned the motor and then the battery started to turn it over so i kept doing that and put the plug in and it will almost start so i took the battery out and i am gonna let it charge overnight. My friend said cause the higher compression it will take a good charged battery to turn it over and why it was hard to turn over also because the oil never got in the motor yet so once it's started the motor will get the oil and be lubed up so it will be easier to start. He said when bikes are sold new they run a tank of mixed through it so i will break it in easier and keep the internals lubed. thanks guys :)
