not a dial face, but look into the TrailTech "Vapor" computer. many people here use it, and like it.

plus it gives you a odometer, head temp, speedo, trip, and more.

Why do you need one? I shift by feel and never pay attention to any tach on anything i ever owned.

Yeah check out the reviews on Rocky Mountain ATV. Most people who get them...hate them.

I hate how jumpy the trail tech and most digital things are. I am interested in a real gauge needle tachometer for my quad. Not for shifting but just to see how high your revving or what RPM your at for different things.

FYI- My Can -Am 07 ds650X comes with a tach, maybe try ebay and pick one up. Good Luck, you will have to figure out how to mount it.

I believe you can run them off the stator or coil so it either counts flywheel passes or sparks. how does the trail tech one work?

just get a small truck or car tach and hook it up to the coil.i think it wouldnt b too hard to do.like 2or3 wires

a problem i see is that most only go to 8k. whats up with that I know cars that rev out to 11k and the 400ex will do a little over 9k.

An auto tach won't work unless it has a switch on the back to select 1 cylinder. Most aftermarket auto tachs only let you select 4, 6, or 8 cylinders and are triggered by the coil, which fires a different number of times per revolution depending on how many cylinders you have.

Here is a single cylinder analog tach that would look cool however it maxes out at 8,000 as well so it wont tell you full out RPM.

The DS650 Baja machines came with a autometer tach but I cant find one in there catalog that works for a single cylinder.

Personally I didnt want a tach but I did want a shift light to tell me when I hit a magic RPM number which the Trail Tech Vapor can do.
