do they fit a trx 250r?

no.

400ex pegs bolt solid to the frame, not a hinged style like the R.

will they bolt up to the bolt holes?

just looked at my 250r and 400ex side by side and the 400 pegs don't look like they would even come close to bolting on the R

well i know they would come close. but you take the spring and hinge mechanism off the 250r and you have 2 bolt holes similar to the 400ex. could you just give me a measurement of how far the bolt holes are apart? center to center on your ex?

i may be wrong but, if memory serves me, i looked at this very thing some time ago when i built a 250Rex hybrid and the pegs would end up at a funky angle or something like that. :ermm:

yeah thats what i was thinking as well, it looked like it would be at about a 45 degree angle or something... but if you want to know i am going to my shop i will check it out for you and let you later tonight.

here is a 450 peg (same as a 400) held up by where the 250 pegs are, well, you get the idea

maybe i could make a plate to bolt the ex peg up to. i like the idea of the solid peg. but i dont think there are any aftermarket pegs available for the 250r

it would not be hard at all, you have to make a plate, but it won't be near as strong as mounted to the frame.

you could make a pretty thick plate. another reason i want to use the ex pegs is they mount farther back and i am feeling a bit cramped and i believe that will give me some more room.

well since i am welder by trade it would be a easy mod for me and now that you got me looking i might just have to do it.
here what i was thinking..
take a 450 peg, same mounting at a 400 but wider. the 450 peg i got in the photo is for my 400ex. i bought them from a member for 20$ shipped.
cut the peg off the mount and index the peg itself and reweld it. i think the mount itself would bolt to the R frame. but in my case my nerfs are there so i would have to get new nerfs or make something with that work. i think my nerfs aren't really for an r with the way they mount right now anyway. i am going to dig some pics up to see, unless someone can tell me??

anyway with the amount of work involed with cutting the peg off and rewelding wouldn't be much and if you took the cutoff wheel to it yourself, i'm sure a weld shop would only run about 20 to reweld it. and really 20 would be to much.

ya i was thinkin about doing that also. but ims pegs would be nice too.

was simple and other than my nerfs it was a bolt on mod, on my 88-89 frame

I like the idea of fab-ing something to make the 400 or 450 pegs work. FYI, RIS makes billet foot pegs that look good. I found a set of IMS-Roll pegs for mine that I bought brand new a couple of months ago.

I'd rather make a plate, because of the fact of being able to replace the peg with out rewelding it to the trx250r plate. also, by doing this your saving the 250r pegs.;)

i was never going to weld anything to the 250r plate, i was going to move the peg on the perch of the 400/450 peg then bolt it on.

in those pics it looks like the mount is welded to the plate??? the rust makes it unclear to me.
if that plate isn't welded to the perch then your only using one bolt to keep the peg on??

hey that doesnt look like too bad of an idea. he just welded the 450r peg to the 250r. but used the 250r plate and lined up one hole with the 450 peg and bolted the plate to the frame.
