anyone have any ideas what would cause my moter to serge and backfire through the carb. i rejetted the other day and it is much worse. i put a #40 pilot, #155 main and it is 2 1/2 turns out not sure about the clip. it runs strong on the top end but the bottom is the problem and i'm lost. thanks

have you messed with the cam or the timing....i haven't seen one backfire thru the carb in a while...also what is done to your bike. that will help on suggesting jet's

i got the bike two weeks ago so i don't know much about it. i'm the second owner and the only thing i was told was that the k&n and the exhaust were changed so i would think the timing and cam are stock. when i changed the jetts i notested that the plastic clip that clips to the bottom of the main jet was bent?? the fuel screw was turned out 3 1/2 turns and the idle screw was turned up too high. he told me that it haddent been used for a year and a half. hope this helps:confused:
also while decceleration? in gear when i down it occasionally stalls? thanks

that could be the problem. if that carb sat for a year and a half with gas in it, there is a good chance the carb is all gummed up.

i cleaned the carb. everything looked pretty clean and still have the same problem. idle through 1/8 throttle is where the prob. is 1/8+ through wot seem good. could it be getting too much fuel down low?? my settings are at sea level. #40 pilot #155 main 3rd clip from the top 2 1/2 turns out.

With the bike idleing spay carb cleaner around the carb and boots to see if it has an air leak causing leaness. If it has a leak the rpm will increase from the spray. Also check gas cap vent and all carb vent lines. GL

i had this problem on my 08 but i let it sit for about 2 months with out draining the fuel(amateur) and they told me that the ethanol in the gas is gumming up the jets. but if you cleaned it good it should be fine. only thing i didnt see mentioned was the floats but i dont know if this will make it do what your saying. make sure to drain you carb of fuel if it is going to sit for more than 2 or 3 weeks.
