I am tring to remove the chain on an 01 400ex. I took a dremal tool and cut between the links and removed the chain. Now I am thinking that wasnt the best move. I called a few local shops and they told me to just cut the link with a dremal insted of buying the chain braker. How do I remove the rivets that connect the liks. I have tried to cut between the o ring and the link but the chain keeps moving. HELP!!!!!!!!!![SIZE=3]

Grind the outside "welds" off and pry it off.

tried that but I bent the link prying on it. So i had to remove another link. I dont want to go any further because I am afraid I might make the chain to short.

How much does an aftermarket replacement run for?

Usually around $50 or so. Check ebay or rocky mountain.

What about the chain braker? Should I have bitten the bullet and bought one?

You are making it harder than it is......grind the "welds" off the side on one of the outer links and use a flat head screw driver to pry it apart. Grind if down all the way.

10-4. I will try again tomorrow. Thanks for the info. I took your advice and checked on line and found tons of replacement kits for 50-70. I even found colored one that were pretty cool. Any way thanks for all of your help.

I just used a pair of bolt cutters and it worked fine.
