Basically the guy (professional football player) goes through a red light after stopping at the light first right near the hospital. No real danger to anyone. You would think the dumbass cop would think, wow this guy just came to a stop and then proceeded through an intersection and goes right into a hospital parking lot...something might be wrong here...an emergency. duh!!! It doesn't show in the video but apparently the cop pointed his gun at the woman which is why he is on desk duty or administrative leave.

Now, the cop has to deal with looking like an idiot which I guess is just punishment. The football player got nothing. The ticket was dropped.

Yeah I saw that too on the news.. If I was him I would sue too. I know it's not about the money in a situation like this but he should get something out of it.. He's arguing with the prick cop and his mother-in-law was dying.... Some class that officer has....

look at if from the cops point of view. he pulls over a car full of people and everyone a cop pulls over will try to lie if they think they can get out of a ticket. when a cop pulls someone over you never know if one is armed and dangerous or what. as far as im concerned the cop was just being cautious!

That's true the officer has to protect his life first.. But it was only his wife and himself in the car right... His wife runs into the hospital and he stays outside to tell the officer that his in-law was dying... The cop could have walked inside with him.. Also I'm sure he ran the license plate so he had all of the information, He could of asked for his license and then just made a call after he was inside...

"Hello, my name is "BLACK" would you like to arrest me?

I like this:

"MY MOM IS DIEING!!!"<-BLACK GUY
that dont mean you can run a red light.... <-COP

OK... HOW FUC*ING IGNORANT IS THIS PRICK!!! I would have made them arrest me... after I ran inside.... But someone made a good point in the comments for that video... "IF she was really on the verge of dieing, WHY didn't he pull up to the door? She ran inside... um...NO....

His boss disagrees. He was let go off the force for not using judgment and having compassion for other human beings. He boss said this is the first thing every officer has to have which only comes naturally or you might as well not waste taxpayer money trying to train them for other things.

This didn't happen out on the middle of some drug route...it happened right in front of a hospital where you think people might be in an emergency situation.

I just red that his mother in law had died as the officer was giving him a hard time.

just look at it this way....if the dude would have wated 30 seconds for the light, he'd of been 30 seconds late...not 15 minutes..

...im not saying that some of the things the cop said were right, because there is vidoe evidence showing the cop was pretty mean...but he did run a redlight.....and liek said before...tons of people have excusses...turns out this time it was the truth

cop lost his job...hopefully he learned a lesson. His boss didn't trust his ability to use good judgment in the future given he couldn't act in a reasonable manner for this situation.

His boss basically said a cop must be able to look at a given situation and use good judgment. He didn't think the cop clearly saw the whole situation and wanted to go "strictly" by the book.

I think the cop should have known a little bit better . The guy had his 4 way flashers going, stopped at the light to make sure no cars were comming and then proceeded into a hospital parking lot. Usually a tell tale sign that it's an emergency .. I think a bit of common sense would have went a long way in this situation.

Cops in Plano, Texas seemed nice when I was there. This may be just one example of someone sticking to the letter of the law.

The news said that a nurse even came out and told the officer that he was telling the truth and that his mother in law was dying.

anyone who wants to can defend that cop and say what they want but what it comes down to, and mind you this is why he was fired, there is absolutely no reason that he couldn't follow him inside to confirm the story and finish up afterwards and he also would have to be a total d*** to give someone a ticket in that situation where it was obviously an emergency and the driver was by no means endangering anyone

One of my friends was involved in a fatal accident one night, I got the call to go get his wife and get her to the trauma center. I was pulled over for speeding. I exited my car and immediatley was staring at the officer with his weapon drawn (very expected move on his part)

After doing exactly what he said, and explaining the situation, I was allowed to continue virtually immediatley.

Was this cop wrong? Not at first. A man jumps out of his car and heads my way he will have a weapon on him. You can argue all you like that the cop should have suspected something due to the incident being at the hospital, however his first instinct is to protect himself.

Now after the first few seconds , IMO he could have evaluated the situation and been more willing to escort the man inside. I think this is where he made his mistake and it cost him his job.

police need to really have a reality check. there is far too many other things needing to be addressed. the officer that was in the video is a far too often of and example of why poeple do not trust the police anymore. i was camping with my friends at the past steele creek Gncc and it is our towns "thing to do" on the weekend. we were all having fun and sitting around the campfire some were drinking underage and most were not im am not advocating underage drinking but in this secluded area there was at least ten of morgantons finest riding around in blacked out suvs in an area that no one was going to be driving out of this area. we were not being loud and there was no problems. then 6 police officers swarmed us and started screaming everybody freeze and had tazers drawn. they rifled through our tents and all of the females pocket books without a warrant and arrested about 5 of my friends that were drinking. my sister who is only 15 was there with me had 3 officers surround her and started to ask all sorts of questions and trying to get her to admit that she had been drinking and possesed alcohol. she then blew a .00 and then proceed to ask her where her pot was. i was disgusted and enraged as this went on. and the whole time i was thinking why were they here why werent tehy watching for theft. people driving drunk and anything else you could think of. so way to go morganton pd we had a great time when you werent around.

I incorrectly reported he lost his job...because I thought this is what I heard during the interview of the police chief. He is on administrative leave right now pending the review. The police chief did say though that you can't train someone to have compassion and judgment. You either have it or you don't. I expect he will either get fired or he won't have the type of police job where you are out patrolling and dealing with the public.

He should lose his job, but you know as well as I do all his cop buddies will come to his rescue and his might get something in his file to prevent a promotion for a while but I bet 9 times out of 10 nothing major will happen to the man....

I thought I read he lost his job because he failed to show human compassion or something like that.

I am thinking he is just sorry that people know what he looks like and he will be getting his arse kicked until the next big news story. :p I am sure the public humiliation will give him a new outlook on the world and his actions.
