Where can I get a list of Torque Specs for the engine cases and the Head bolts.

Is there anywhere that has a list of specs for everything else too?

Like mounting bolts and stuff like that for teh engine.

i know they r in a service manual. the head nuts r 44 N.m(33ft-lbs) the head cover r 23 N.m(17ft-lbs). and when ur talkin about the engine cases r u talkin about the main cases or the covers? as far as i can tell, they r all the same which would be 12N.m(9ft-lbs.

The head bolts are not 17 ft lbs. That is only for the 8mm bolt. only want to tighten the 6mm head bolts to about 13-14 lbs. They strip very easy. I stripped one at 15 ft lbs.

Better read this for bolting them down.

The cylinder head cover bolts are 8ft lbs. Even at 8 ft lbs one of mine broke off. :grr

Ya, they also like to stretch, so i went to Ace Hardware and got 2 of each bolt i needed for the head and tightened them down to 12 ft lbs and its been fine since

well, the r cases have no specs for torqueing the cases.

I dont think the 400ex does either.

I use a small ratchet and put my hand around the part where the socket attaches and snug the bolts up.

you have to be careful with the cases to much tightening and youll strip em easy.
I wouldnt use a torque wrench on the cases because theres to much of a chance of the torque wrench to fall over and tighten the case to much and chance stripping it out.

not to sound like an idiot, but in the beginning of the manual, it has a torque page, and its says the torques of all the bolts. some r secified, and it says otherwise there is a section that says the torque for the size of bolt. so, basicallyh if the bolt in a certain location isnt said elsewhere, then its at a certain torque for all bolts that size.

I got a manual and it doesnt give torque specs for the 12 6mm bolts. It just says to tighten them up a lil. And it says the (middle) 8mm bolt needs 17ft lbs. Yu torqe all the head bolts to 17 ft lbs and i gurantee they will stretch/strip. I know this from experience. I aslo thought te head bolts needed to be troqued to 17 ft lbs then i stretched all f them and broke half of them.

All of the small bolts on the head cover as well as the case bolts are 6mm x 1.00 tread pitch. They have a 8mm head and need to be tightened to 90 inch lbs. or 7.5 ft lbs. - be carefull of using a ft lb torque wrench on a bolt this small.
