Stator Help!

I want more light output, and was reading in the forums taht a 200W stator will do the trick. If I make this swap knowing that the stock stator is 100W will I have to change any other part in my bike to make it all work good; or will it be just replace the new for the old and ride?

Its just a bolt and ride. I have the Ricky Stator 200w in my quad.

A 100W stator doesn't push out 100W all the time. It means that it's able to supply a maximum of 100 watts.

Your lights are the key. Your stock light is 55 watts, if you want more light, you need to buy new lights with more output. Your new lights will have their own power rating, and you have to make sure the total doesn't exceed your stator rating.

So if you get two 35W aftermarket lights, that's only 70W total, and you can keep your stock stator. But if you get two 75W watt lights, that's 150W total, and then you would to upgrade to a 200W stator.

As a general rule, you can't use all 100W for your headlights. You lose a little power in your voltage regulator, wiring, and the power to run the rest of your electrical system. I wouln't go over 80W on a 100W stator, or 170W on a 200W stator.

Thanks for the info!!! It really help me out understanding how it works. I think I will stay change to a 200w stator and buy 75W lights.

I have aftermarket lights that I can bolt on in about 5 minutes.
I usually only run them in the winter due to less daylight.

i actually have run the 2-35 watter lights on the stock stator with great sucess.

hell i think i run 2 50 wat lights on the stock stator and it runs fine. im not sure if there 50 watt but im pretty sure. all i say is when i turn the front lights on the tail light is dimmer than with then off. but i have run it all day like that and it hasnt smoked the stator yet. :P
