I am going to start working on my frame soon. I have an 86' frame and I am going to be using an 89' swing arm. So I am going to make and weld in a rear motor mount. I am also going to beef up the swing arm mounting area. I am planning on doing it like I have seen some of the custom frames.

What are some areas that need to be gusseted? Are there any important spots or is it not really needed? I am just going to trail ride and play with this machine but I figure why not beef up the frame some while I am going to be doing a little welding on it anyway.

So if anybody has suggestions and or pictures of some gusseted frames, that would be great.

Thanks.

Gusset the steering stem hoop.
Gusset the are right above the shock towers.
Gusset the area on each side of the swing arm bolt.
Wish I had some pics for ya!

Those pics have some good suggestions. However there is no gusseting at the swingarm pivot area.

I like that cross brace on the front of the shock mounts. Most all of those are the same spots I was thinking of doing too.

I am also going to beef up the swing arm mount area. I am going to do it up like a friend of mines 250R frame. He has a custom frame, can't remember what brand. But it is beefed up nice and would not be hard to do.

Thanks for the pictures. Anybody got any more ?
