Well I have a stock trx 250 EX and Im thinking in strart in the world of desert racing but Im not sure if a 250 quad can handle the big boys like a 400 or a 450 I will put a quadworks stage one powerkit on it, also a full T-4 exaust system and a magnum rev box, do you guys think that with those things my quad can be competitive at desert racing aganist bigger quads, and if not what can I do to make it faster?

if your racing in a class with 400's and 450's, you might want to get a new quad

here why:

1. Desert racing is a racing dicipline that requires a decent amout of top speed, the 250ex with 22 inch tire will only run about 60, not very competitive

2. Taking on whoops and dips at speed requires long travel and good shocks, this on a 250ex, takes $, lots of $

3. for the $ it would take to get the 250 up to snuff for desert racing would be better spent on a 400 or 450

your call
i would say save your $ for a bigger quad

I also agree with what ^ he said. If you want to race in that enviroment you need a bigger quad. Sell yours and take the money you would have used in mods to buy a used 400 that is ready to go. Also remember that those races are about endurance both in the rider and machine:macho

i think if you were in a class up against ds250's, raptor 250's, and other 250ex's you would be ok

but your fun wouldnt last long b/c you would get bored racing the 250 real fast

400 or 450 is the way to go unless you have big $ to get one in a few years and race the 250 now
