gone for about a year, the other forum i frequent seems to be down, so figured why not stop in here and see what is going on. i see some familiar names still around, and went to the 400ex question for fun, and the same exact questions are still being asked lol

nice to see some things never change, but some things you wish they would.

my poor old 400 has not been so much as started since last july. dropped a valve, and ever since it has been parked. need to sell it soon for money for other projects.

no point to this thread really, just stoppin by to see what is going on.

if it was a blue 92 then yeah lol. i think it was you.

but i plan on selling mine, and not getting another one for a few years atleast. off roading trucks is tons more fun In my opinion, and i can build a truck for alot less than a quad.

You must have better luck with a truck than I do, cause I go through them and no matter how much I dump into the wheeler, Its cheaper than my trucks.

Shoot me a pm about your wheeler.

well being i bought the quad for $2500 almost 5 years ago., and have dumped a highly unknown amount of money into it since then, i am guessing in total i have 7-8k in it overall.

with my truck, i have a total of $800 in my 1995 Jeep ZJ beater, and just bought a 77 Chevrolet for $550, and only have about $700 in it as it sits, and should be a very capable rig for under $1500 all said and done with. granted, i am doing all the work on it myself, alot of major mods being done to it.

I do all my own work, and all that, but tires, suspension, etc. etc. I have a 85 K20 that im working on, and a 74 wagoneer. Used to wheel a 84 K10. I also have a 97 Z71 that I bought in december, with no intentions of wheeling it, but I would like to do a solid front axle swap if I ever decide to.

mine is a77 K20. but suspension is cheap if you know how to make leafs work.

a SAS on the z71 would be cool.

I've all but quit posting in the 400EX forum. The "search" function just isn't used enough to suit me, and I don't like repeating myself.

Check out the 400 section there are a few threads about the shocks and arms and such. From what I have seen trucks are much more expensive than atvs. If you want to see some sick SAS silverados check out fullsizechevy.com those guys are crazy with what they do to vehicles. Steve

question like that are exactly why i am not around here much anymore. got tired of repeating myself.

i took one look in the 400ex section, and all i was was : "which is better 416 or 426?" "will 450R shocks fit" "best pipe?" the same exactly questions i answered for 4 years on this site are still popping up.

The only good thing about those questions is that, that means more people are buying quads.

very true, means that usually new people are getting into the sport. just wish they would find the search button

nice on the chevy forum. nice truck too. the same questions are still around cause the search is a joke. I try to use it and go through 30 pages of crap with nothing in it. It searches the slightest words. It will even do words in the sigs for some people. I looked for bearing info on a foreman and searched all 33 pages and did not find one thread that even had anything to do with the topic I searched. All well i guess I'll post up a question then. I have nothing better to do than answer questions as they come up. I look for the most recent questions adn answer. having less classes than usual has taken a tole on me for the semester. too bored to do homework so I sit on here. steve

i was on there alot for a few weeks then switched back to here. I like to see the ideas for the trucks I want to do some stuff to mine but no money so I guess dreaming about it is the next best thing. What are you going for? I am in engineering. steve

03-26-2009, 05:10 PM
i have that issue with no money. being a broke college kid sucks. thats why i try to keep it to small stuff for mods. and i am building my new truck, the one pictured on a budget.

i am in mechanical engineering technology.

honda400ex2003
03-26-2009, 06:03 PM
nice on the technology, i am in just mechanical engineering. being broke sucks i wish I had enough to buy a 97 silverado and do a dc 6.5" and a 3" body lift with 38's under it. I think it would look really nice. I want to buy my dads from him but he uses it to plow. One day. What do you plan to do with your engineering once you are done? design parts and such or other ideas? steve

03-26-2009, 06:26 PM
i plan on going into some sort of shop. my dream is going into an off road fab shop. i don't want to be in design, i would rather be in application. i want to actually build prototype parts and such. basically wanting to get into R&D somewhere.

i am gonna try to put my truck on 38's, but on only 4" of lift. gonna take alot of sawzall work, if you can't tell lol. i have a 2003 Z71 that is my daily driver that i would love to lift. i just can't afford to lift it, plus i don't want to hurt teh driveability of it any, as it still has to tow the 77 around.

Nice on the truck, I would like to design them instead of prototype them. I like the physics and such behind it all. If you are ever looking for an engineer when you start your firm let me know. LOL. That would be awesome, steve

03-26-2009, 07:30 PM
that would be pretty cool. i just love to know how things work. i am the type of person that when somethings breaks i take it apart to see what happened to it, and fix it if i can. i figure if someone put it together, i can take it apart. knowing how things work is awesome, and i too like the physics behind it all. thinking it all through when i can.

Where the heck is Independance KY? And do ya'll have plenty of places to wheel? I had all kinds when I first got my license, but they keep getting closed, so taht's what has caused some of us to lose interest.

independence is about 20 miles south of cinicinnati Ohio. very northern part of the state.

i wheel alot of private land. have 3 buddies wtih 40-50 acres each that i can wheel on whenever i want, all 3 within a 30 minute drive. one in only about 2 miles from my house. there are a few legal public area's local as well, with an hour or so. but we go on long hauls as well. we sometimes drive 4-5 hours to get to wheeling spots when the local ones start getting old.

are you doin the 52" leaf swap to that. Im doin that to my blazer right now putin the 52" leafs off the back puttin them on the front and takin a set of 56" leafs off a 2wd chevy i got laying around with shackle flip in the rear. that will get me around 4 inches of lift with lots of flex.

not just yet. but i am putting 64" leafs out back with a shackle flip. 52's up front will come in due time, but not just yet. mainly cause they are gettin hard to come by, and i broke my factory 52's (hence reason i am going with 64's) but i am taking aobut 16" out of the wheelbase when i do the swap as well.
