400ex rocker valve timing???

i just put on a new valve cover with new rockers and now the quad runs but kills out after a while while choke is on.. and wont run at all with choke off.. im being told i have to adjust and time the rockers and valves.. can some one explain to my dumb *** how to do it? thanks:mad:

Make sure your timing is correct, once thats done check your valves. If you take the valve cover off and go through the proccedure of checking valves you will see a timing mark in the cam that should line up with the top when the crank is turned till the TDC mark is lined up in the site hole on the left side. If not make proper adjustment. Check valve clearence, reassemble and you should be good to go.

I would say it is off a tooth on the cam possibly also but you did not mension anything about the cam being out and such so that is out. steve
