i got my UM full skid in today, won't fit without alot of mods.

What do u guys run? Is there such a thing as a bolt on skid?

am i better off making this one work or sending it back and getting a different brand?

I'm not sure what brand skid I have, but it doesn't fit perfect. I just make it work the best I can. Both holes under the motor don't line up, so I use one of them and use my brackets to hold the rest of it on.

AC Racing makes a good quality skid that requires no modification.
If your running an aftermarket chassis then cut the AC down to fit.

Wow. I honestly can't believe an AC part fits! nothing i've bought has. Maybe i'll try one if one more person backs you up.

And i've got the stock frame.

I have an AC skid on my Laeger narrow, and it fits fine, but I didn't install it, so I have no idea what it took to make it work. The AC skid on my Cannondale had all the holes (drain holes) drilled in the wrong spot... I do not like AC and will not buy from them if I can help it. They sent heel guards to me for my kid's quads, and they had jagged sharp edges everywhere.... Terrible.

If you go theAC route be sure its for a 250R! The first 2 I bought were for a 400EX! Be sure you specifically tell them 250R! My buds have always run AC and never had a problem with them!

The um skid has the front recessed hole in the wrong spot, the mounting brackets look all wrong also.

On the side of the motor where the skid wraps around the frame its around an inch too wide on either side. I'd need some mega spacers and it would be a nice catch-all for mud. The holes are slotted but wayyy off also.

Does anyone have a Armadillo full skid? i have their swinger skid and it fits perfecto

I bought some UM propegs for my raptor a few yrs back when i bought it. They fit like **** and after i finally did get them on both mounts broke after a few rides :ermm:

Im probably going to start hunting for a skid for th R too. Does tag make the plastic skid for our bikes? I always had pretty good luck w/ AC stuff bolting up

Not sure on the Tag plastic skid.
If you want somethin thats thin and light just use a street sign and cut it to fit.

Kind of surprised no one mentioned PRM, they make a nice thick skid. I have one on my Arens, it needed a couple of bolt holes relocated but I can only assume it's because of the aftermarket frame.

Your right! PRM makes some really nice products!
I run the PRM rear skid and a modded front Baja bumper.
Very happy with their products!
The reason I went with an AC belly pan is because its thinner than the PRM. Just my preference.

I am using a PRM on my stock framed 86, mounted up with no problems. I run PRM skids on all my quads, they are the best I have ever used by far.

I ordered a AC full skid today, hope it bolts right up. Does anyone know if this wraps up towards the bumper? if so, how much?

Also got some AC propeg nerfs as well;)

Not trying to scare you! Did they actually say that they had them in stock?

BERT306

Yes, they say they have the regular and "Blackline" pro-pegs in stock. I got the regular propegs, $50 cheaper than the blacklines.

Don't know what the difference is. Blacklines come in the same finish as the regulars but are black in the product pic?

Guess i'll find out next week, Magic racing usually has super fast shipping, other than it took 2 weeks to get my UM skid, just to ship it right back anyway, bummer.

Well 05LSR250R, u were right about the pro pegs. After filling my order they called on monday and said they were out of stock, BUT they did have the Blackline propegs in stock and will be here tommorrow!

Then they call today and say they are out of stock on the AC belly skid. Guess i'll check out the PRMs since rocky mountain is out of Armadillos.

YEP! They did they same thing to me about 5 yrs. ago.
Ended up having to wait for AC to make them. Called AC and they said they were makin a run of Z400 nerfs for the next 3 weeks and then a run for some other bike and then probably the 250R!
I was like WTF! Anyway, I think it took almost 8 weeks before I received them! I was lucky that I didn't need them right away! :eek2:

Well AC Blackline Propegs dont fit worth a CRAP!!! Missing half the hardware too. Bags were sealed just missing some nuts and one of the 2 spacers. They don't meet together in front of the motor very well, gonna take some knee tweeking. I guess they want you to drill your own holes to mount things together as well

You'd think when paying $230 for nerfs they'd include everything!!

I wish it was!

What really sucks is working 7-5 everyday then comin home excited to get these parts on and having them not work. I don't have a good supply of nuts/bolts in my garage, wish i did. Local hardware store closes at 530 so gotta wait till tommorrow:(

Call AC and tell them you never received your hardware kit and that your pissed off! Dont be rude.........they'll send you an extra mounting kit.
