Some questions

when my 400ex is on jacks and i put it in first with the clutch still engaged the wheels spin is this normal? and everytime i go to check my oil i get a diffrent reading but it doesnt smoke and theres only one very small oil leak. Would un-adjusted valves or a fouled spark plug cause it to smoke a bit. And my final question is how hard are the axle carrier bearings to do???

yea when my quads on a jack my tires spin in gear too im pretty sure its normal.
wheres the oil leaking from?

its hard for me to explain but ill try my best. On top of the clutch cover where that lever thing that the cable pulls theres a rubber seal around it and thats where the oil is comin from

1. yes that is normal

2. make sure you always check it when the bike is cold. that way you are always checking it at the same temperature. and make sure the bike is sitting level

3.it could be a jetting problem, or it could be the rings or valve seals.

4.rear carrier bearings are not that bad to change. just take your time and you shouldn't have any problems
