burning through coils?

i seem to be going through coils more than i would think is usual. ive been through 3 in 2 years now(i dont ride much at all). i only use the tether to shut down the machine, could it be my tether setup? the tether wire connects directly to the coil hot side, i made a splicer so i didnt have to cut anything, and the other grounds directly to the frame. any input on that would be great.

also, has anyone tried the cheap $20 coils off ebay? i figure they're all made in japan anyways so buy one of those or go to honda and pay the extra $30?

about all i can tell you is that somehting is wrong. i have the original coil on my 250r from the day it was for sale. and it still works great. try checking the whole electrical system for bare wires and breaks.

under the circumstances i'd suggest doing as Honda 250r 001 mentioned and i'd also change the way the kill(tether) is hooked up now and wire it to be hooked up as it should be to the black/white stripe one. hope this helps. :cool:
