what years are better than others?

is there any year where there were some flaws and then fixed the next production year?

like the first few years of the yfz's they had the oil **** happening to them. anything like that happen to the trx's? thinking about getting one and dont know what years to avoid

I wouldn't buy an 06 because the transmissions fail a lot. Be careful if you buy an 05 if the crank bearing was never replaced because some 05's came with bad crank bearings. And stay away from any 450r with electric start. Theyre hard to start, and I dont think honda fixed the problems with them yet. You wont go wrong if you buy a clean 04, 07, 08, or 09.

but try and get one with kick start? how many kicks does yours take for the first start up of the day?

mine starts pretty much 2nd kick everytime, but i usually kick slower the first time to get oil moving, then kick one good time.

Yea mine starts first or second kick pretty much everytime. Im pretty sure the 04 and 05 had crank bearing issues, but if not already fixed, I believe there is i pretty inexpensive upgrade kit.

Yea pretty much any year but the 06 i would get, and deff deff get a kicker!

04/05 crank bearings, 06 weak electric start (recall)

had not heard about the trans problems for 06

(what did they change in 07 to trans for fix ?)

04/05 have lower compression (less stock hp) but turn ALOT better

06+ have better trans gearing (imo) more hp stock, better carb, better hrc kit

in my opinion, there arnt any real problems with any 450rs. The crank bearings are not even close to as popular for going out as people make them seem.

i bought an 04 with the crank bearing already out for $1,500 its rare to come accross deals like this but if you do BE CAREFUL cause the crank bearing when it went out in the meantime it cracked the RH side case,had to get whole new crank,took the stator with it,and bent the shift shaft somehow....so yeah lol
