I have a 2007 Xtreme Typhoon 125, my son bottoms out on everything when we are out riding. I want to put a taller tires and/or rims on it, can I just pur a taller tire on the factory rims or would I have to go up a size on the rim also? We like the tires that's on it, they are just too low profile. Thanks for any info!

The motors on these bikes don't have much power stock. If you put bigger tires on it the motor will probably suffer quite a bit. Especially in soft dirt. You can stiffen the springs on the shocks by winding the coil downward. This will raise the front end up but the springs will be pretty stiff. If you really want to go with bigger tires get the VM26 carb, a better airfilter, and a better exhaust system to offset the added rotating mass from the tires.

we put 21x10 -9 tire & wheel on rear & made a skid plate for it also.
I put wheels on inside out, to keep it the same with, also went up
2 teeth on rear & down 1 tooth on front, to keep same power & speed
for trail riding. It gets around much better now.

I know that some people put a bigger front sprocket on them, I would think going up a size on the rear tires would be the same thing. Thanks for the info!

Thanks that's probably what I will try. What about the front, did you leave them stock? We have have place near us that sells Kazuma & Jet Moto, do you think they would have the right bolt pattern rim for the Xtreme? Or do you know a place where I can get them? Can you tell me what the bolt pattern is so I can call around? Thanks again!

yes bigger tires in rear will be the same as putting a bigger sprocket
in front but I did'nt want it to go faster, I wanted it to stay about the same
as stock, to high geared would be bad riding in the montians, hard on cluch, also bolt patern is 4-110, i used wheels for honda trx400

You're probably right on that one. When I went up on the sprocket I had already done mods to the motor. My son just didn't get the concept of downshifting and it would make the bike perform poorly in tite corners.

Are you saying you used the rims & tires off of a Honda TRX400/ 300EX? They will fit on the Xtreme? I was thinking something smaller...Wouldn't they hit the nerf bars? Thanks!

if you use taller then 21s they will hit, mine miss by about 1/2 inch,
we trail riding only mostly in mountians, lots of rocks and ruts so needed as much ground clearance as could get, now with these tires & skid plate it has as much as my 660 raptor

Ok thanks for the help! Do you have any pics you can post of it? Or that you have posted anywhere else? I would like to see what it looks like.

Cheapest way to change front end put a set of shocks off a 300ex honda this will stiffen the front up a bunch and is a good set up for trail on the rear 18 inch tires are a big as you want to go you can also rotate the rear axe carriers to gain about 1 inch check your chain when you do this may be to short or long you may also want to change the rear shock at some point let us know if we can help

Thanks for the help! It has stock 18x6.50x8 rear rims & tires on it and he is bottoming out on everything. The front rims & tires are 19x6x10. Do you guys think a 20x10x9 in the rear and a 21x7x10 in the front would fit on the bike? Would I have a problem with the front brakes? If I had a Honda, I would just put them on and see but we have Yamahas.

To put the 9 inch rim on it, did you have to do any mods to make it fit? I tried to put the 10" front rim on the rear just to try and get an idea of the ground clearance and there is no way it will fit the spindle. I don't have a 9" to try. I found some 400EX rims & tires for $100 but I don't want to buy them unless I know the 9"s will fit on the spindle for the 8" rim. It seems to me that I would have to have an 8" rim and the same wideness on the tire to go on it. I'm not sure though!

I guess i told you wrong, I finily got a chance to look at the tires, they are 20x10 itp holeshots on a 9" wheel, i ordered tire & wheel package thru rocky mtn. atv for a honda trx 400, rear bolt pattern is 4-110, the front bolt patern is different, I tried to send pictures, havent got that figured out yet sorry

I have two extreme 125 and we do alot of trail riding and in the sand. I ordered rim tire package for my ltz400 suzuki and they fit fine and i'm running them basiclly stock except for new clutch plates and springs and air cleaners. they pull great without changing gearing. the size i'm running are 18x10x9 holeshots on a itp 9inch rim

Thanks for the pics! Right now it has stock 18" tall tires on the rear, so are you getting more ground clearance because you have a 9" rim? Do you know how much ground clearance you gained?

I put some Honda 400EX rims & tires on it and that made the bike have 6" ground clearance, with the stock rims & tires it had 4" ground clearance. My YFZ450R has 5 1/2" ground clearance. The 400EX rims & tires makes the back taller than the front. I also tried to put some front rims & tires off of a Honda (22x7x10) when you bolt them on, the front tires will not spin they rub the calibers & you can't turn the wheels to the right or left all the way.

I appreciate the help!

If you measure the heigth of your stock 18"tires they are only 16-16.5" tall, they should be close to 18" but they are not, thats why when you go to a 18" or 20"good tire you will gain so much heigth, the 9" is the width of the wheel. a 20x10-9 means the tire is 20" tall, 10" wide & the wheel is 9" wide.

Ok thanks for the info! I bought tires for the rear yesterday they are Kenda Scorpions and the size is 20x7x8. I don't like the way they look but they are light. I did all my measuring at the same point, it was 4" and now it has 5 1/2" ground clearance. This way I didn't have to buy new rims right now.

Thanks again!

Where did you get them from? That would be cool if you could post a pic of it. The tires I have now raised the bike up 1 1/2" but I don't like the look of them & they are only a 2 ply tire.

Thanks!

Thanks for the pics...those look better than the ones I have. When you bought them, were they listed as a front tire? Tomorrow I will take a pic of the tires I put on the bike.

my son rides mostly rocky desert the combo works great.

upgrades include clutch, oil cooler and case breather.
a/c aluminum nerfs (kasea) and bumper, works front shocks, fox air rear.

I rode it around the yard and it seems fine. It has a little more gear, almost like if you went up one size on the front sprocket. Most of the hills my son goes up, he is in 1st gear so it might be a good thing. Before he was really winding out 1st gear.

I'm running razors on the back of my boys bikes and we ride only in the woods at crooms and ocala forest they are 18x10x9 on itp rims that i ordered for a suzuki ltz 400. i made a mistke earlier and said they where holeshots but thats what i put on my 400. they have plenty of power with even me riding them and i weigh 200lbs I'll try to attach a better picture of them. they have plenty of clearance now and they don't get stuck in the sand anymore.
