03 kfx400 starts and stalls???

ok so when my buddy starts his kfx400 he has to give it alittle gas and then hold it for 30secs then it will stay goin, if not it stalls....is this normal?

if its cold out side sometimes mine will do that but my guess is that your idle screw (the black knob at the bottom of the carb) needs adjusted one way makes it idle slower and the other faster mess with it i'd give it about 2 turns if that helps then there you go (clock wise if your looking straight at it makes it idle faster

IMO, it sounds like you need a valve adjustment.

ok the valves was just done and are right on, it runs fine are 30secs and works good just start up

Try cleaning the pilot circuit.
