I just purchased a 04 YFZ450r with a shot battery. It has a bunch of mods - big bore kit, cam, exhaust yada-yada-yada. I am told the R1 battery is the upgrade to be had. I asked the parts desk at the dealership and they looked at me as if I had elf ears and a swastika on my forehead. Now my question, What it the tits battery for the yfz. Please be specific in your recommendation, ie… model #’s, year/make/model as if you were ordering from the stoned kid at the dealership.

Again: Thank all of you for sharing all the knowledge that was accumulated over years, $ & mistakes to make my life easier with a simple post.

You want a YTZ10S (battery model #). They're used on R1's, R6's, CBR929/1000, CBR600's.

I got a generic brand from BatteryStuff.com for ~ $60.

You have to cut out the rear "wall" of the battery box to allow it to fit. It's a pain to cut cleanly but you'll have 190 CCA instead of 85 CCA. It's a good mod.
