BBF 460 ???

I know this got nothing to do with a 250R, but, any big block 460 Ford guys on here,,,,building them,,,,repairing them,,,,,or got parts for them engines.

Few years ago might have done that, but I've learned some stuff about engines since then.
454 crank got 2.2000 rod journals, 460 got 2.5000 & 3.0000 mains.
Block & head iron on the Ford is harder than the chevy iron & you can take a stock 460 Ford cast crank & build it up to 900 HP.
Fords cant turn the RPMs a Chevy can, but you can gear the Ford to pull & git the job done.

Dont git me wrong now, I still want & like my Chevys, but I just dont kick the ol Fords in the ditch anymore.

theres a local guy by me that pulls with a 78? 460.. i'll ask if he would be able to help you out.

are the ford drive shafts weaker then chevys? i love my fords i just heard they are weaker...

I wouldnt think the shaft would be weak in a pulling truck, cause you would build one to take the load & abuse the puller could dish out.

at some point were gunna build the 460 in our 69 continental, were thinking about 514 kit, but haven't purchased anything besides a big *** holley, gear drive, just little things

Do you know which engine you have, the block & head numbers cause was a year or two ol Lincons had high hp engine in them.

not sure on that, im sure my dad was thinking about that when we bought it, but im not sure, he was all over it when buying parts for our 455.

I can check it out, but from online it says it should be about 365bhp and 500ft.lbs

460.com, man its some stuff on that site & if your dad dont know about it, he needs to check it out.
